Last week, our program faculty and students attended the 2023 CIES Western Regional Conference. The conference theme was “Education, Migration & Human Rights: Intersecting the Local and Global”, held at Monterrey, California, between October 27-29. This CIES regional conference gathered more than 150 scholars and practitioners, part of a long tradition of regional and thematic events organized by the society.

Over three days, our ICE members, Faculty and students presented their work, organized workshops and engaged in enriching discussions with colleagues from all over the world. Professor S. Garnett Russell and Ph.D. candidate Paula Mantilla-Blanco showcased their work on “Venezuelan migrants amidst conflict and peace in Colombia”. This presentation is part of a large project on transitional justice in Colombia, headed by Professor Russell. You can find out more about it here.
